The California Strawberry Festival will take place May 17 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Strawberry Meadows of College Park (located at 3250 South Rose Avenue in Oxnard). Event organizers encourage participants to park off-site and take the free shuttle to festival grounds.
This year’s festival marks the 31st year of every-manner of strawberry. Festival promoters promise a whirlwind of family-friendly, tasty—and sometimes messy—fun. Events include the Strawberry Tart Toss, Strawberry Pie-Eating contest, and Strawberry Relay races, which require both teamwork and plenty of towels for the clean-up. (Don’t forget your cameras!)
Looking for something a little more artistic? Creative types can try their hands at the Berry Best Hat Contest, sponsored by Coca-Cola. If the fun of crafting with strawberries doesn’t entice, the prizes may inspire your inner Picasso: “A wonderful three day, two night stay at a fabulous Welk Resort in San Diego, Palm Springs, Cabo San Lucas, or Branson, Missouri. (airfare not included) Plus, a $50 gift certificate to spend on a shopping spree at any of the arts & crafts booths at the Festival, courtesy of Pacific Fine Arts Festivals.”
Kids can look forward to Strawberryland for Kids (presented by the Ventura County Star), an area completely devoted to entertaining the under-12 crowd. They can also meet Strawberry Shortcake in person!
Music and other live entertainment will help the whole family enjoy the ambiance. Make sure to indulge in the Strawberry Promenade, the festival’s main area devoted to the sweet fruit.
So bring the family and take advantage of a Southern California delicacy at this year’s Strawberry Festival. Purchase tickets online or in person. Look for the Drake Law Firm to join you there!
