Interested in theater, soccer, or traveling? Better yet, all three?
Check out the world premiere of ¡Ser!, a musical and personal narrative at the Los Angeles Theatre Center from Nov. 15 to Dec. 8.
¡Ser! is a personal narrative that examines a quirky Latina’s strained relationship with each of her two homelands: Los Angeles and Buenos Aires. She has lived in both cities for years and constantly dreams of one day meeting her soccer idol, Diego Maradona. Traveling back and forth between the two countries throughout her youth—in the middle of many historic Argentinian moments—has left her with few role models, except for an Argentinian English teacher.
The performance includes live music, demonstrations of soccer skills, and inspiration. The main character aims to remove all of the negative influences from her life to find community and love in pursuit of her goals.
¡Ser! is written and performed by Karen Anzoategui, directed by Marcos Najera. The performance also features musical collaboration with Louie Perez of Los Lobos, CAVA, and Walter Miranda.
Ticket prices range from ten to thirty dollars. To purchase tickets, visit the Los Angeles Theater Center website or call the box office at (866) 811-4111.
