Go Hollywood for a good cause, and do it to a fun beat! Join the party and “dance for a cure” at Lights. Camera. Cure: The Hollywood Dance Marathon on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood. Kids with pediatric cancer get the spotlight this spring, at a six-hour gala raising money and awareness “for the kids,” as the slogan for the sponsoring organization proclaims.
The event hosts include the organization with the gala’s namesake, Lights Camera Cure, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity, as well as the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, a member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The event boasts an impressive $100,000 donation record in its first two years. This year promises a winning environment for the fundraising goals as well as for participant’s fun.
Interested in getting involved? There are two price levels: general admission for $30 and VIP for $125. Each participant is expected to dance, but prior-dance experience is not required. Since this is a fundraiser, dancers are provided with a webpage to share with friends, colleagues, and neighbors and solicit donations. More information is provided in the website’s FAQ section.
The Avalon is located in downtown Hollywood at 1735 N. Vine Street and the dance party is scheduled to run Sunday, March 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
