With the summer coming to an end, it can be difficult to keep the kids occupied. Everyone is getting excited and anxious about the new school year, and you may feel as if you have exhausted all of your ideas; you’ve spent days at the pool, you’ve packed picnics—you may feel as if there is nothing left to do to occupy the family. However, don’t feel this desperation yet! There are plenty of places, activities, and events in the Sherman Oaks, California, area that can keep children and adults of all ages engaged and busy!
In this clean and safe play space, there are plenty of things to keep the kids busy and their imaginations active. The Playroom, located on Ventura Boulevard, is great for young kids, but they need to be accompanied by an adult. Within this space there is a large bounce house, a miniature roller coaster, a real playhouse, an air hockey table, a rock wall, toys that you can ride on, a ball pit, and much more. There are one-time options as well as different types of passes. For more information, visit http://www.theplayroomvalley.com/.
Ultrazone Laser Tag
Ultrazone Laser Tag, also located on Ventura Boulevard, is “The Ultimate Laser Adventure”. This facility provides laser tag games, but not just for children. Many adults come and blow off some steam shooting and dodging lasers for hours. There is an arena, or labyrinth as they call it, that you immerse yourself in for 30 minutes at a time. In their words, “you become the game.” The game is completely supervised, so there is no need to worry about your kids being in any type of danger. Sherman Oaks Castle Park
At the Sherman Oaks Castle Park, it is easy to make one visit last an entire day. With the abundance of different activities, boredom will not be an option. There is a miniature golf course with exciting and imaginative scenery and props throughout. Price for miniature golf ranges from $3.00-$6.50, depending on the party and the time of day. There is an arcade with a wide selection of different games, including air hockey and classic arcade games. Could you win one of the big jackpots? This arcade also includes a lazy maze called The Vault, which is more difficult (and fun!) than you would expect! End the day by trying your hand at the batting cages. Is one of your kids the next Joc Pederson? Find out more information about Sherman Oaks Castle Park by visiting their website at http://www.laparks.org/shermanoaks_castlepk/index.htm.

Skirball Cultural Center
The Skirball Cultural Center is like a museum, and its main purpose is to give a fun environment for adults and children of all ages to learn and have a hands-on experience with things that they may have never come in contact with before. There are many different exhibits that stay at the center permanently and a few special exhibits that change periodically. This is a great learning experience for both you and your children and it may not even feel like you are being educated, because you are busy having so much fun! Both you and your children will leave the Skirball Cultural Center with a new appreciation of different cultures as well as maybe learning about some things from your own culture! The center is open Tuesday-Friday from 12:00pm-5:00pm and Saturday-Sunday from 10am-5pm. For more information on exhibits, admission, and more, visit http://www.skirball.org/.
