Los Angeles celebrates the Fourth of July with numerous parades, festivals, and fireworks. All around town, there are different vendors open with American barbeque, local foods, and Los Angeles charm.
Friends and family can choose to go to music festivals, the Rose Bowl Stadium, Hollywood Stadium, and more. Fireworks are shot off near the ocean and in the city, too.
At Drake Law Firm, we have chosen to spend the day with our families and friends at Marina Del Rey, about twenty miles south of our Sherman Oaks office.
Marina Del Rey has the most popular fireworks show in the area. At night, the fireworks are shot off from a barge in the middle of the marina. The fireworks light up the sky and reflect onto the water, creating a powerful image that cannot be seen anywhere off the coast.
The fireworks show will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will last approximately twenty minutes. The show will be synchronized to music from KXLU 88.9 FM.
According to the marina, here are the best spots to view the fireworks:
- Fisherman’s Village – 13755 Fiji Way
- Burton Chace Park – 13650 Mindanao Way
- Marina (Mother’s) Beach – 4101 Admiralty Way
There are events going on throughout the day, too. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the 14th annual Westchester 4th of July Parade will begin on Loyola Boulevard near Westchester Park and end at LMU. This year’s theme is “Love My America!” The shops on Abbot Kinney Blvd. will be open until 10:00 p.m.
There is also a Mr. and Ms. Muscle Beach contest, which lasts all day on Venice Beach. There will be body building, figure, and swimsuit contests, according to the Muscle Beach website.
Be sure to arrive early to get good parking and avoid traffic.
Independence Day is a time to remember how far our country has come, remember and thank all of our troops, and gather around with friends and family. Everyone at Drake Law Firm wishes you a safe and wonderful celebration.
