There’s still time to take your family ice-skating at Pershing Square in downtown Los Angeles! There really isn’t another rink like it, surrounded by palm trees and nestled among downtown Los Angeles’ towering skyscrapers.
Skating occurs in one-hour sessions, with a 30-minute break between. It’s the perfect opportunity to warm up with some hot chocolate, and the kids are sure to love watching the Zamboni resurface the ice.
There’s also the 5th Annual Downtown on Ice Community Broomball Tournament, being held at Pershing Square. Broomball is like hockey, but played without skates, with brooms instead of hockey sticks, and rubber balls instead of pucks. Tournament games are held between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Jan. 7-9 and 14-15. The finals matches will be held on Jan. 16. Sign up your team of eight by calling Gus Sedano at 213-847-4970.
The Pershing Square rink, located at 532 South Olive Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013, is open from November 14, 2013 to January 20, 2014. The rink is open every day, including Christmas and New Years day. Hours vary depending on the date, so visit the rink’s website for details or to purchase tickets.
