Pet Orphans of Southern California

dogThe residents are the heartbeat of any city, whether they stand on two legs or four paws. At Drake Law firm, we pride ourselves in being connected with our residents and the events that are happening in our community. There are a lot of good things happening around the Sherman Oaks area, with one organization that we feel particularly connected to: Pet Orphans of Southern California.

Pet Orphans of Southern California is a nonprofit organization that has been in existence for more than forty years. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and promote responsible ownership. Across the country, there is a growing problem of feline and canine overpopulation, abandonment, and euthanasia. Pet Orphans of Southern California’s goal is to aid in the reduction of these problems. They do this by reaching out to our community for assistance.

In a perfect world, we would all be able to go out and adopt a cat or dog today, but Pet Orphans of Southern California knows that this is not necessarily the best option for a lot of people. Many residents are concerned about owning a pet because of their full time job, the safety of their children, or simply the time commitment. With how widespread this issue is becoming, there are more and more people wanting to help the cause. However, not everyone is fit to own a pet, which leads to abandonment and euthanasia.

Pet Orphans of Southern California recognizes that some Sherman Oaks neighbors cannot be a responsible owner, but they also recognize the people that would like to help with the cause. They have set up different volunteer programs for this very reason. If you or someone that you know would like to volunteer at the center, there are many different options for you, including:

  • Dog and cat socializers
  • Dog buddies, coaches, or junior trainers
  • Adoption counselor
  • Helping at mobile events
  • Animal help assistant

The center even has internships for high school and college-aged students wanting to specialize in animal care. If you have court-ordered community service, there is a program for that as well.

On top of an adoption and volunteer center, Pet Orphans of Southern California offers other services as well, such as dog grooming and pet training. They even have a pet store that sells everything from flea control to toys and treats.

If you want to help out with the cause, stop by Pet Orphans of Southern California today to adopt, volunteer, donate, or just give the gift of love and attention.
