A 65-year-old man died New Year's after his car was hit just before midnight in central Stockton by another driver whom police say was under the influence.
The two-vehicle collision occurred about 11:50 p.m. Thursday near Pershing and Middlefield avenues, Stockton police reported. Officers responded to the location to find a passenger in one of the vehicles nonresponsive.
The man died from his injuries after being transported to an area hospital, police said.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified by police as 34-year-old Quinton Hopkins, received a non-life-threatening wound and was also transported to an area hospital for treatment.
"He was evaluated for and determined to be (driving under the influence)," police said.
Hopkins was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
