Pedestrian Killed on Hollywood Freeway Identified

July 13th, 2023

A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on the Hollywood (101) Freeway was identified Thursday.

California Highway Patrol officers were called at 4:53 a.m. Tuesday to the southbound 101 Freeway and North Los Angeles Street where they found the pedestrian, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

The pedestrian was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical-Examiner as Elden Johnson, 40.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of the three left lanes of the southbound freeway for three hours while it investigated the crash.
