FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The man who died after a car crashed into a canal in Fresno County Wednesday night has been identified.
Authorities say he is 18-year-old Cameron Patterson.
The crash happened at about 6:15 pm at Herndon Avenue and Madsen Road.
Highway Patrol officers say four teenagers were in a speeding car when the 18-year-old driver, identified as Marcos Zuniga II, lost control of the car on a turn and crashed into the nearby Friant-Kern Canal.
Three of the teens were able to free themselves from the car and swim to safety, but Patterson was trapped.
He was presumed missing throughout the night until crews found his body in the car after it was pulled from the water.
Investigators say drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been involved in the crash.
Two of the teens were taken to the hospital for treatment.
