A person died Thursday in a crash that involved three cars on Highway 160 near Brannan Island Road according to the Rio Vista Fire Department.
The California Highway Patrol's South Sacramento division said that a collision involving a Nissan Altima, Ford pickup truck and box truck was reported around 2 p.m.
CHP South Sac said that an off-duty officer arrived at the scene and found that one of the people involved was experiencing major head trauma and was having trouble breathing. According to CHP, Rio Vista fire officials arrived and pronounced the person dead on the scene.
Rio Vista said that delays on Highway 160 in that area should be expected until 5 p.m. while the scene is being cleared and that one-way traffic is being performed.
CHP South Sac said that they can not yet provide a description for the person who died and it is unclear which of the three vehicles they were driving when the crash occurred.
