FAIRFIELD, Calif. —One person was killed and several others were hurt after an Amtrak train crashed into a vehicle in Fairfield on Wednesday, according to police.
The crash happened in the area of East Tabor Avenue at Railroad Avenue around 8:39 a.m.
The initial vehicle struck a second vehicle, causing major damage to the second vehicle, the Fairfield Fire Department said.
Several people were taken to nearby trauma centers with moderate to major injuries. At least one person was killed, police said.
The roadway was closed for several hours and has since reopened.
