A pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck and killed on the Jackson Highway in Sacramento County Monday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision happened on eastbound Jackson Road and Sunrise Boulevard at about 5:30 a.m.
A white Toyota Tacoma was traveling in the eastbound lane when a man walked into the lane and was struck by the driver, CHP said. Front-end damage could be seen on the Tacoma as it was getting ready to be towed.
The driver of the Tacoma has minor injuries and is cooperating with the investigation, CHP said. No alcohol or drugs is suspected.
The Sacramento County Coroner's website listed the victim as 31-year-old Oscar Armando Monreal.
The collision caused traffic delays Monday morning. Lanes have reopened after an earlier closure.
