YOLO COUNTY, Calif. —Interstate 5 has reopened after an overturned big rig at the Yolo Bypass Monday morning caused major delays on northbound lanes for six hours.
The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. when the big rig swerved then overturned and crashed into a pickup, the California Highway Patrol said. Bags of growth medium spilled across the area, which is west of the Sacramento International Airport.
Traffic was diverted to County Road 22 as the area experienced heavy delays, including for people headed to the airport.
Traffic was backed up near Del Paso Road in the Natomas area, according to KCRA traffic reporter Melanie Hunter.
All lanes reopened around 1:30 p.m., CHP said.
