Two occupants inside a vehicle were killed in a two-vehicle crash in West Los Angeles, and the motorist who triggered the collision was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said Sunday.
The crash happened at 5:58 p.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard, at Ohio Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.
The location is next to the Bad News Bears Field, a few blocks north of Santa Monica Boulevard.
A Honda Civic going northbound on Sepulveda struck a BMW i4, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free patients for transport to a regional trauma center, Humphrey said.
The driver and the passenger of the BMW died from their injuries at a hospital. Paramedics rushed the motorist in the Honda to a hospital, where that person was listed in critical condition, police said.
Two good Samaritans who tried to free the trapped patients before firefighters arrived suffered minor injuries but declined treatment, Humphrey said.
Anyone with information about the crash was urged to contact the LAPD West Traffic Division at 213-473-0234 or 877-527-3247.
