SACRAMENTO, Calif. —A crash involving a stolen vehicle in Sacramento left a woman dead and five others critically injured, officials said.
The crash involving a pickup truck and a sedan was reported around 4:25 p.m. at Calvine Road and Franklin Boulevard, the Cosumnes Fire Department said.
All seven people involved in the crash were transported to hospitals, the fire department said.
From the stolen vehicle, a woman died, and three minors were taken to the hospital, the Sacramento Police Department said. From the pickup truck, two passengers are in critical condition, and a third passenger has moderate injuries.
The Elk Grove Police Department said that shortly before the crash was reported, an officer tried pulling over the sedan, but the driver drove away speeding. Officers did not chase after the vehicle because of how recklessly the sedan was being driven.
Franklin Boulevard is closed in both directions between Bassett Way and Adalis Drive, the Sacramento Police Department said. Westbound Calvine Road is also closed from Jacinto Avenue to Franklin Boulevard.
These roads are expected to stay closed for several hours, police said.
