Ten vehicle crash including ‘numerous big rigs’ reported on I-80 in Truckee

March 15th, 2023

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that multiple semi trucks collided on I-80 in the Truckee area on Wednesday morning.

CHP’s Truckee division reported “a multiple big rig traffic collision on eastbound I-80 at Central Truckee” shortly before 4 a.m. on March 15.

Truckee Police say that the ten vehicle crash includes “numerous big rigs.”

Only minor injuries have been reported.

Police did not provide information on what led to the crash, but slick roads were reported in the area.

CHP warns drivers that eastbound I-80 will be closed for an extended period of time. Eastbound I-80 traffic is being rerouted to SR-89 south.

“There is no estimated time of reopening as the recovery process for all the big rigs will be a long process,” troopers noted.
